Study on Crack Identification with Responses Modulated by Nonlinear Energy Sink

Owing to its vibration reduction and indirect signal amplification characteristics, a nonlinear energy sink (NES) is used for crack identification of structures. The equation cracked simply supported beam with an NES derived the influences properties on dynamics system are investigated. A pixel method applied estimate phase diagram areas parameters identified based geometric features diagram. It shown that varies significantly parameters. This because higher amplitudes generated by absorbing respect primary structure. In addition, can reduce amplitude without hindering identification. Moreover, through introducing NES, produce strongly modulated response, which be utilized convenient detection. Two sets indices defined system, generating single-period response response.
